Dock Woods, a Living Branches community, located in Lansdale, PA, has been implementing improvements to better address the future needs of this senior living community. The Dock Woods senior community includes independent living homes, personal care, and skilled nursing. The various improvements involve the renovation and addition of private skilled care and skilled memory care rooms. Included within these improvements is a new Memory Care Courtyard Garden.

The Memory Care Courtyard Garden includes a wide variety of activities, prescribed by the life enrichment caregivers within the community. A large pergola, located in the center of the courtyard, has a retractable overhead shade canopy. The shade structure can accommodate several wheelchairs allowing for a wide variety of games and social interaction. The concrete patio and walking path surfaces have been tinted to reduce glare. The plantings provide four season interest and are selected to attract natures into the garden. The perennials along the walking paths are selected to stimulate the senses. The garden provides an exciting new chapter of the Dock Woods community by providing a stimulating outdoor environment that enriches the lives of residents with memory impairments.
